“Blameless,” the electrifying single from our upcoming project HUNGRY GOSSIP, launches with a zombie family on its cover, setting the tone for a year of groundbreaking music.
This track dives headfirst into the gritty realities of childhood trauma, challenging the notion of those who harm us escaping consequence. With a twist in its title, “Blameless” or “blame less,” the song promises a light at the end of the tunnel. Merrick, drawing from his own rollercoaster childhood in a home torn apart by divorce, crafted the lyrics. Patrick, too, contributes his experience from a household where constant arguing should have led to separation but didn’t.
Together, they turn these shared pains into a dynamic, healing anthem. Patrick’s intense lead vocals, especially his hard-hitting screams, are a testament to the emotional turmoil of growing up in chaos. These screams are strategic, highlighting the song’s raw emotion and the exhaustion of dysfunctional family life.
But “Blameless” isn’t just a song; it’s a beacon for those battling similar demons. It’s for the brave souls breaking away from toxic cycles, a rally cry for healing and moving forward. This is the heart of HUNGRY GOSSIP: overcoming trauma and embracing growth. This stuff eventually kills you or you heal from it. Key themes of the HUNGRY GOSSIP project include childhood trauma, mind-control and conspiracies. The single for “Blameless” releases on 1-11 and it can be presaved on Spotify from the hyperfollow page.
Ultimately, we are both grateful for the experience of growing up the way that we did. By choosing to heal from the trauma, it’s made us uniquely qualified to spread the message of hope and healing. If the hurts have never happened, it might have led to a normal or boring life where we never woke up to the wonders of recovering and being of service. And understanding that not everyone will want to heal with you.
We both want to stress that “Blameless” is not blaming anyone or parents in general. The song seeks to blame less by identifying that in the end it’s no one’s fault, but once you know, it becomes your responsibility.
